Streptococcus mutans


S. mutans proteins were BLASTed against three S. pyogenes, two S. pneumoniae and one S. agalactiae genomes (accessions AE005672, AE007317, NC_002737, NC_003485, NC_004070 and NC_004116) and a collection of S. mutans sequences with no significant similarities was obtained. The majority of these S. mutans sequences had no match whatsoever to any GenBank entries and are denoted accordingly "hypothetical." However, a small number did have matches and these are tabulated below. The first column in the table records the database definition, or predicted function, of each S. mutans protein. The second column provides GenBank accession numbers for one orthologous protein; when more than one ortholog was known, the one with the strongest match was recorded. The data in this table can change with growth of GenBank.

for relevent references. These genes appear to have no know homologs in GenBank. The only
significant Blast hit is to the earlier sequence version of the S. mutans gene.
