Comment:
Crute et.al.(1989) report that the UL5 protein of HHV1 complexes with the UL8 and UL52 gene products to form a DNA helicase-primase.

Holzerlandt et al. (2002) identify UL5 as a homolog of human DNA helicase (GI: 5523990).

The UL5 protein belongs to a family that includes HSV-1 UL5, EHV-1 57, EBV BBLF4, HCMV UL105, AND VZV 55.

UL5 has beta expression regulation (Roizman, PNAS 93:11307,1996, Medline: 97030190).

Variants include WMBEHQ.
